Aviation Minister-designate, Cecelia Abena Dapaah has assured Ghana will get a national airline within two years.
According to her, some 60 percent of all travels are done by air so the country should be able to cash in and make gains.
Mrs. Dapaah made the comment when she appeared before the Appointment Committee of Parliament Wednesday.
Answering questions on what she will do to ensure Ghana gets its own airline, the nominee said “that will be the baby I’ll give birth to”
The Aviation Minister-designate said this can be realised between one and two years once all plans fall in place.
Mrs. Abena Dapaah called on Ghanaians to back her dream with prayers.
On domestic travel, she said the Akufo-Addo led government abolish the 17.5 percent VAT put on aviation travel.
She bemoaned how domestic airlines are going through a lot of stress due to the high taxes.
On aviation fuel, Madam Abena Dapaah said she will meet with all the domestic airline operators to get first-hand information on how to move forward together.
