Two people were injured Monday afternoon when a plane made a hard landing at a southwest Miami-Dade County airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The Piper PA-28 went off the runway at Homestead General Aviation Airport, bounced and came to a rest on the grass next to a canal, FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said one person was airlifted to a hospital and another person was taken by ambulance. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Sky 10 was above the scene as one person was being placed onto a stretcher.
The plane landed on its belly in the grass along a nearby canal bank.
Bergen said the FAA is investigating.
