Citation Longitude first flight planned for summer
Textron Aviation’s biggest Cessna Citation jet yet, the Longitude, is expected to make its first flight this summer, a company official confirmed Monday.
“We do anticipate first flight this summer and entry into service in 2017,” Textron Aviation spokeswoman Rosa Lee Argotsinger said in an e-mail to The Eagle.
The $23.9 million, super-midsize Longitude was unveiled at the 2015 National Business Aviation Association convention in November.
Its passenger cabin will share a flat floor with the smaller, midsize Citation Latitude that received Federal Aviation Administration type certification in June 2015, and will have the longest range of all Cessna Citations, 3,400 nautical miles.
It’s also the first Cessna Citation to be manufactured alongside Beechcraft airplanes, at the company’s Plant IV at 101 N. Greenwich. Textron acquired Beechcraft in 2014.
