The Chief Executive Officer of Med-View Airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, has assured that the airline would attain the International Air Travel Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate by the end of the month. Bankole disclosed that the airline was on the last lap of IOSA certification and when it attains the new status, it would be able to interline with foreign airlines on international routes. When the airline attains the new status, it would bring to four, the number of Nigerian carriers with IOSA certification.
Airlines on the list are Arik Air, Aero Contractors and First Nation while four other carriers, Allied Air and Cargo services, Overland Airways, Dana Air and Air Peace are also on the verge of attaining the certificate. Bankole also expressed optimism that the airline would be successful on the impending Dubai route, which it hoped to commence soon. He specifically said that unlike in Europe where the airline competes with no fewer than 14 carriers out of the country to London, United Kingdom and still performed creditably well, Med-View would only be competing with maximum of three carriers including Etihad and Emirates on the Dubai route.
On the update of the airline, Bankole disclosed that in the last couple of months, Med-View had added Kano, Kaduna and Jeddah on its routes and promised that other 17 routes approved for it by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) would be taken up very soon. He informed that the airline has had an agreement with a leasing company to acquire Boeing 747, 737-800 and 737-400 aircraft to further beef up its fleet. He said, “Since we commenced international routes, all the promises we made to you have been fulfilled and we will continue to do more. We plan to expand our routes and fleet, and those things would be achieved soon. “Soon, we will commence direct flight operations to Monrovia (Liberia), Freetown (Sierra Leone) and three frequencies per week on the Dubai route. Our fares on these routes would be reasonable and competitive to all including ample luggage allowance for passengers.”
