A Medevac flight with one patient on board crash landed at the Van Nuys Airport on Tuesday night when a landing gear collapsed, an airport spokeswoman said.
Around 9:12 p.m., the pilot radioed the tower indicating the plane has an unsafe landing gear, Van Nuys Airport spokeswoman Diana Sanchez said. There were no injuries to the passengers and crew she said.
The King Air fixed-wing aircraft landed on its belly at the airport at around 9:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Five people were on board and the medical transfer patient was transported by ambulance by the fire department to the hospital, LAFD Public Information Officer Margaret Stewart said.
For a brief time, both runways at the airport were closed, the shorter runway has since reopened, Sanchez said. The longer runway was still closed as of 10:45 p.m. and she did not give an estimate when it will reopen.
