Gulf Air quick to put down Internet landing crash illusion

A video purportedly showing a collision between a Gulf Air aircraft and a Kuwait Airways jet while landing at Kuwait International Airport, went viral online today leading to the Bahrain national carrier having to issue a denial.

In a statement, Gulf Air , said it strongly denies rumours circulating via social media that one of its planes collided with a Kuwait Airways aircraft on the Kuwait airport runway “Reports and videos claiming to portray such events are erroneous. The airline’s six-times daily Bahrain-Kuwait service is operating as per the airline’s schedule,” the statement said. “The airline would like to reiterate its ongoing commitment to the safety, protection and comfort of our passengers and employees.”

An Arabian Aerospace analyst said the image was "merely an illusion created as one aircraft landing passed behind another that was holding at an intersection."
