One person is dead and another was injured when a small plane crashed in a field near Ocala International Airport, officials said.
The crash was reported just before 9 a.m.
Firefighters pronounce one person dead at the scene, Ocala Fire Rescue said. The second person in the plane was taken to a hospital. The person's condition was not available, and no names were released.
Fire rescue said investigators think the plane left the airport Saturday morning, encountered problems in flight and turned back before crashing.
Fire rescue said the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been notified.
