Lost airplane recovered in east Alabama, pilot safe



A small airplane authorities originally thought went down in Chambers County on Saturday morning was located near Wedowee in Randolph County.


The pilot wasn't injured and the airplane was recovered, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

A small airplane may have attempted an emergency landing in rural Chambers County on Saturday morning.

Chambers County authorities are conducting a search for the plane.

The Chambers County Sheriff's Office received a report from the Federal Aviation Administration about an aircraft in distress at around 10 a.m., the sheriff's office posted on social media.

Anyone who saw a low flying aircraft in the area is asked to call 334-576-0916.

The Chambers County Sheriff's Office, Chambers County 911/Emergency Management, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Civil Air Patrol are investigating.
