Southwest Airlines unveiled a new aircraft commemorating 30 years of service in Tennessee.
Tennessee One was christened by Nashville Mayor Megan Barry, Southwest Chairman Gary Kelly and airport CEO Rob Wiginton Monday morning before taking off for Memphis, reported WTVF.
“Southwest has been in love with the state of Tennessee for 30 years,” said Gary Kelly, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Southwest Airlines. “What better way to pronounce our ongoing affection than by honoring the state with Tennessee One—our version of a love song dedicated to our customers and employees, who have been so good to Southwest all these years. This one is for you!”
The unique plane features the Tennessee state flag on the body of the aircraft and the Southwest logo at the back.
For the first flight, Southwest employees, customers and community members boarded the plane and made the trip to Memphis.
Once in the air, the music kept going with a live performance by Chris Young and Cassadee Pope.
But the celebration didn’t stop there.
On Monday, Southwest also launched a special fare sale from now until March 3.
