Tara Air crash: Black box recovered
The black box of the crashed Tara Air plane has been recovered on Thursday, according to Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (Caan).
The plane crashed in a remote Myagdi district on Wednesday, killing all 23 people on board.
A flight recorder, known as a black box, is an electronic recording device placed in an aircraft for the purpose of facilitating the investigation of aviation accidents and incidents.
It consists of flight data recorder (FDR) and cockpit voice recorder (CVR).
The FDR is a device that preserves the recent history of the flight through the recording of dozens of parameters collected several times per second.
The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) preserves the recent history of the sounds in the cockpit including the conversation of the pilots. The two recorders give an accurate testimony, narrating the aircraft's flight history, to assist in any later investigation.
Caan’s Director General Sanjiv Gautam said that these devise would be handed over to the five-member investigation team formed by the government to look into the Tara Air’s crash.
The wreckage of a Tara Air Twin Otter, which had gone missing minutes after taking off from Pokhara on Wednesday morning, was found in Solighopte in Dana VDC of Myagdi district in the afternoon.
