Air India’s complaint against its rival IndiGo, which alleged that the low-cost carrier was engaging in “predatory” recruitment practices, has been rejected.
The Economic Times reported the Competition Commission of India (CCI) as ruling that the recruitment policies of IndiGo’s parent company, InterGlobe Aviation, “do not raise any concerns”.
“The allegations levelled against [InterGlobe] do not seem to raise any competition concern in the market. An airline recruiting another airline’s pilots will not bring about structural changes in the operations of the market,” a CCI statement was reported saying.
It also noted that there are no restrictions on IndiGo, Air India or any other airline recruiting pilots belonging to a rival carrier.
The newspaper cited regulations from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which state that airlines must only ensure that the pilots they hire have served the required six-month notice period.
